Cà Phê Bơ (Vietnamese Avocado Coffee)

Origin: Vietnam (Buôn Ma Thuột)  |  Prep: 10 minutes  |  Brew: 5 minutes

About This Brew

From the highlands of Buôn Ma Thuột, the heart of Vietnam's coffee country, comes Cà Phê Bơ, a blended avocado coffee smoothie that locals treat as a creamy afternoon indulgence. Ripe avocado is blended with condensed milk and ice into a pale-green froth, then topped or swirled with a shot of intense phin coffee.

Avocado is used as a sweet fruit across Southeast Asia, and its buttery flesh gives this drink an impossibly silky body. The mild, nutty avocado tempers the powerful Robusta, while condensed milk ties the two together into something rich, cold and almost mousse-like. It is the ultimate proof that Vietnamese coffee culture is endlessly inventive.
